State police searching for man whose gun discharged in Walmart
SOUTH WILLIAMSON, Ky. — Kentucky State Police are looking for a man who they say dropped a handgun in the South Williamson Walmart causing it to discharge. KSP Post 9 Public Information Officer Trooper Michael Coleman said no one was injured, but that he had fielded some calls asking about an “active shooter.” He added that the incident appears to have been an accident. The man they believe dropped the gun left the store shortly after the incident occurred, Coleman said. Kentucky State Police are actively searching for the individual at this time and are continuing to investigate the incident.

Missing coach wanted on child porn charges
APPALACHIA, Va. — What began as a search for a missing Wise County high school football coach is now being termed a manhunt for a fugitive, as officials now say he is wanted on child pornography charges. Union High School Coach Travis Lee Turner, 46, was discovered missing when police went to his home to question him last Thursday. At the time, police said it was not their intention to arrest him, but to question him in connection with an unspecified investigation. East Ky. Power Co-op reaches agreement with AG’s Office to reduce rate increase by 20 percent
FRANKFORT, Ky. — East Kentucky Power Cooperative has reached a settlement with the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office to reduce the amount of the rate increase by about 20 percent from what the company had been seeking. East Kentucky Power Cooperative, which supplies power to electric co-ops across the state, including Big Sandy RECC and Licking Valley RECC, had been seeking raise rates by 6.94 percent, which would have generated a little less than an additional $80 million.
