The Floyd Central Lady Jaguars pulled out a 44-36 win over the Pikeville Lady Panthers on Saturday, continuing their strong season. Floyd Central had three players in double figures. Maddy Engle led the way with 15 points, Reagan Laferty added 12, and Jaylin Blanton chipped in 11. Blanton also led the team in rebounds with eight. Engle now has 275 points on the season, Laferty has 218, and Blanton sits at 104. PRESS RELEASE – UK ATHLETICS ORLANDO, Fla. – The Kentucky dance team finished 10th in Division I-A Pom at the Universal Dance Association national competition on Sunday. Kentucky was in ninth place heading into the finals but was unable to move up despite a clean performance in Sunday’s finals. No current UK dancer had ever competed in the Pom division prior to this season. UK took fifth place in the Game Day division on Friday.

UK’s white squad won the University World Cup Cheerleading Premier Large Coed title on Sunday, Kentucky’s first title in that division. The Cats had a nearly flawless performance to top the field by a wide margin. NORTON, Va. — A Wise County man has been indicted on federal drug and gun charges. Courtland Ramon Gales, 36, of Norton, was indicted last week by a federal grand jury in Abingdon. He is charged with distributing meth and felon in possession of a firearm. He is accused of distributing meth back in August and possessing a handgun back in September. Because he has prior drug trafficking convictions, he could face an enhanced sentence if he is found guilty. Gales is currently being held in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail at Duffield.
