Pike County Central High School has announced a major addition to its athletics staff, naming Kaitlyn Conn as the new head coach of the girls volleyball program. Conn, a Paintsville alum, brings an impressive playing résumé to the role. She served as a team captain, earned multiple All “A” State Tournament appearances, received All-Region honors and competed in several of the state’s top camps and tournaments throughout her career. WHITESBURG, Ky. — A special judge has denied multiple motions filed by former Letcher County Sheriff Shawn Stines as he awaits trial for the 2024 shooting death of Letcher District Judge Kevin Mullins. But hte judge also agreed to hold a hearing on whether he is eligible for bail. PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — After a judge reduced his bond following a court hearing on Monday, the man accused of killing Amber Spradlin has been unable to produce the new bond and his attorney is asking for another reduction. M.K. McKinney is charged with the murder of Spradlin, who was found stabbed to death in the home of his father, Michael McKinney, on June 18, 2023.
