Federal judge blocks Jenkins school district from enforcing no-trespass order against parent
LONDON, Ky. — A federal judge has ordered the Jenkins Independent School District to stop enforcing a no-trespass order that barred a Letcher County mother from school property over her social media posts, ruling she is likely to succeed on her claim that the district violated her First Amendment rights. In an order issued Thursday, U.S. District Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove granted a preliminary injunction sought by Elizabeth Jones, owner of the “Hillbilly Crime” social media channels. Solar group to hold community meeting in SW Va.
CEDAR BLUFF, Va. — The Solar Workgroup of Southwest Virginia is hosting a community meeting next week in Tazewell County, Va. The meeting will focus on options for residential solar power in the commonwealth. These options include rooftop solar, shared solar and plug-in solar for both homeowners and renters. The meeting will be held July 22, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Appalachian Arts Center, 112 River Road, Cedar Bluff, Va. The event is free and will include dinner. Pretrial date set for Ronald Ramsey
PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — Ronald Ramsey appeared in court today regarding the attempted murder of his ex-wife and her boyfriend in May of 2025. Ramsey was driving behind his ex-wife, her boyfriend and the Ramseys’ 16-year-old son on U.S. 23 near Harold when he allegedly opened fire on their vehicle. Both adults sustained gunshot wounds. Ramsey was charged with two counts of attempted murder, one count of first-degree assault, and one count of first-degree wanton endangerment.
