DAYTONA, Fla. – The University of Pikeville dance team has claimed its first national championship. The Bears won the NAIA Jazz Division of the NCA and NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship on Friday. And now, the rest of the story: The Bears won the title competing with only two dancers. Alexis and Aliya Osborne are twin sisters from Prestonsburg, and took down the rest of the field to win the national championship. “I’m really proud of them,” said Coach Hanna Case. “This wasn’t initially the plan, but we decided to just come on down and see how it went. The senior right-hander broke the Belfry single game strikeout record with 17 strikeouts! Given there are only 21 outs in a seven-inning game, this is one of the best pitching performances in 15th Region baseball history. SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — A Magoffin County man is facing felony charges, after he allegedly fired a gun into a house that contained two people. The shooting happened on Wednesday along Old Lick Creek. Victims told police that Trenton Jay Caudill, 25, of Salyersville, fired 11 shots from .22 caliber firearm through a closed door. One of the rounds grazed the arm of one of the occupants. Caudill was arrested Thursday night by the Magoffin County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police.
