UPike nursing and social work grads honored during pinning ceremonies

Nursing graduatesPIKEVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville College of Nursing and Human Services recently honored students graduating from the university’s nursing and social work programs during a pair of pinning ceremonies. On Thursday, May 2, the Elliott School of Nursing held a pinning ceremony in Booth Auditorium, honoring 46 Associate of Science in Nursing students receiving their nursing pins. Three arrested after deputies find variety of drugs during investigation

Tony Gipson, Susan Roberson and Ivory MoodySALYERSVILLE, Ky. — Magoffin County deputies investigating a drug complaint arrested three people after finding a large variety of drugs. The deputies were called to an address on Middle Fork over a report of suspected drug activity. After checking a house at the address and finding it clear, they moved on to an occupied camper. Inside the camper, they found a lock box containing meth, oxycodone, Xanax, ecstasy, Soma and an unidentified powder. The search also turned up scales, two handguns and a small bag of marijuana. Officer finds large amount of meth during traffic stop

McDOWELL, Ky. — Two Floyd County women were taken into custody after an officer pulled a car over for excessive window tint, then found nearly half a pound of meth in her car. A state trooper spotted the car Friday night traveling north on Route 122 near McDowell. The car was occupied by two women, Stephanie Hall, 31, of Langley, who was the driver, and Briana Hunter, age and address unlisted. The officer thought they both appeared to be nervous, so he had them get out of the car for a weapons check, then obtained permission to search the car. […]

Pike woman arrested after allegedly making dozens of false reports to 911

Toshia IsaacSHELBIANA, Ky. — A Pike County woman was arrested on misdemeanor charges, after police say she repeatedly called 911 without a reason. Around 8 p.m., Thursday, a state trooper was called to the Lick Branch home of Toshia Isaac, 33, after a call to 911 from her home. Before the officer arrived, Isaac reportedly called dispatch and said everything was OK and that her autistic child accidentally called 911. Driver’s license clerk accused of fraud against patrons

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — An employee of the Prestonsburg driver’s license office has been arrested, after police say she kept patrons’ debit card numbers and used them to buy items for herself. Brittany Dingus, 30, of East Point in Johnson County, was arrested Friday morning. She is charged with two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, one count of attempted fraudulent use of a credit card, and one count of unlawful access to a computer.
